What is hypnotherapy What is hypnotherapyHypnotherapy is the therapy performed in the hypnosis. The hypnotherapy combines counselling, psychotherapy and hypnosis together. In my practice, I am using a broad range of therapy, based on behavioural, cognitive, psychodynamic, humanistic and spiritual approach. We are highly complex beings, composed of many layers, physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. I use a holistic approach in the therapy I offer. It means that all the layers are addressed together and resolutions are made on the body, mind, soul and spiritual level simultaneously. To explain all this therapies in brief, let us use some simple example. Assume we have a client, Mary, who is afraid of green frogs and it gives her a lot of trouble. The behaviour therapyThis therapy is based on the assumption that Mary fear of frogs is caused by faulty learning and all what needs to be done is to teach Mary not to be afraid of frogs. This can be done in many was, it usually is much slower than other techniques, but it has been well researched and it is quite popular amongst psychologists. The cognitive therapyThis approach is based on the way we think. It challenges the irrational beliefs. For Mary, it would be to let her understand that green frogs are little harmful creatures and her fears are out of proportion. The cognitive therapy is usually used together with the behaviour therapy. Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)The NLP is called "the modern technology of human achievement". It is based on observations how our brain works, how we store our experiences and how to "reframe" and remodel our thinking and behaviour to achieve the desired outcome. The NLP techniques are much more effective than traditional behaviour and cognitive therapies. They can be spectacular when used in hypnosis. For Mary, I would use the "collapsing anchors" , which would give the instant result if Mary meets some selection criteria (this would be revealed during counselling). The hypnoanalytical therapy
This is used when there is more to somebody's issue than just faulty learning or
irrational thinking. For Mary, her fear of frogs could be caused by some
traumatic experience from the past, which she does not remember. For example,
she could fall into the deep pond full of frogs and almost drawn. The
hypnoanalysis will help Mary to find the cause of the fear of frogs and to
stop the fear at the source. The Humanistic TherapyThe humanistic therapy is based on the rising awareness and self development. This would be applicable if Mary assumes that her fear of frogs is not just a silly problem, but a part of her life, which she wants to understand and improve. The humanistic therapy is concerned with the client as whole, in his entire life. There is a number of techniques which I can use to assist client with such needs, with the application of Transactional Analysis and Gestalt. I also use elements of Ego State Therapy. Soul HealingSoul healing or spiritual approach has different meaning to everybody. My most important rule with this approach is to respect client's spiritual beliefs. Also, respect clients not having any spiritual beliefs. My approach does not ask you to believe in any religion or new age spirituality, like chakras, or Angels or anything else. And if you do believe, this is good too. For me the soul healing is learning how to access the core of our being, the deepest feeling of real unconditional love, to yourself and to others, and all what comes together with that, the understanding, compassion, acceptance, gratitude, trust, peace, joy. There are no more powerful techniques to use at this level as just soul talking to the soul, love awaking love, joy and peace bringing joy and peace. However, there is a method which works on this level, the level of love and acceptance, and I use it, sometimes in hypnosis as hypnotherapy and sometimes in a group workshop. This method is called Family Constellations. Sometimes I also perform the Past Lives Regression, but only if client is opened to the belief in reincarnations and if client is ready and will benefit from that. You may also consider exploring the deepest knowledge of your soul, memories of your life as a soul, between incarnations. This is called spiritual regression, or "Life Between Lives" hypnotherapy, founded by Dr. Michael Newton. However, I do not offer spiritual regression as a part of hypnotherapy process to treat psychological issues. I strongly believe that the earthy issues need to be solved here and now, on earth, and once this is done you are more free and more open to explore your spirituality. How this could be related to the fear of frogs? Sometimes the fear of frogs is just a top of iceberg; Mary may have lots of other fears and she may want to address them together. Or after overcoming the fear of frogs she may realize that she wants to continue to grow. The truth is that the transformation on the deepest level of your soul, when you are more clear about purpose and meaning of your life, when you can see the reality from the wider perspective, the fears simply drop. There are no limits to what can be achieved. |
